Cummins and Isuzu deepen cooperation to jointly build 6.7-liter engines!

Recently, Cummins and Isuzu Motors Co., Ltd. (Isuzu) announced that they will launch a new 6.7-liter engine jointly developed by both parties - Isuzu DB6A, equipped with Isuzu's new medium truck. The Isuzu DB6A will power truck applications in the Japanese market and will be available in Asia Pacific and globally later this year. The engine will be assembled at Isuzu's engine plant in Tochigi, Japan.

Cummins Chairman and CEO Jennifer Rumsey said:

In May 2019, Isuzu and Cummins signed the "Isuzu-Cummins Powertrain Partner" agreement to promote the development of next-generation powertrains. The two parties have entered into global cooperation in the field of medium-duty diesel powertrains. In 2022, Isuzu will equip Cummins B6.7™ engines into its FTR and FVR trucks in the US and Canadian markets. The latest DB6A is the first engine to be equipped with the Isuzu FORWARD medium truck under this cooperation.

Cummins has always led the development of diesel engine technology and continues to promote multi-power innovation to meet future commercial vehicle needs. This cooperation will promote further cooperation between the two companies in the fields of technology and products and drive global growth.

Relying on long-term technology accumulation and deep cooperation experience, Cummins' zero-carbon strategic brand Accelera™ and Isuzu have joined forces to launch electric powertrains suitable for Isuzu F series in North America. The medium-duty truck uses Accelera's next-generation lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology and is expected to be available in 2026.
