Zoomlion help the highest-altitude wind power project construction hoisting

October 17,2024

Recently, the Datang Tibet Basu Wind Power Project, the highest-altitude wind power project under construction in the world, completed the hoisting of all 20 wind turbines, once again demonstrating China's hard-core engineering capabilities. From the hoisting of the first wind turbine to the end of the hoisting task, Zoomlion's all-terrain crane served as the main equipment to escort the whole process, helping the project to be completed and put into operation as soon as possible with its excellent and reliable performance.

The Basu Wind Power Project is located in Basu County, Changdu City, Tibet, with a total installed capacity of 100 MW. The wind farm has an average altitude of 5,050 meters and a maximum altitude of 5,200 meters. The cabin installation location has a maximum altitude of more than 5,300 meters. It is the highest wind power project under construction in the world. It is also equipped with the wind turbine generator with the largest single unit capacity in the world's ultra-high altitude area.

On the plateau, there are often strong winds and heavy fog. To successfully erect "big windmills" requires careful planning of the hoisting plan, as well as high-performance hoisting equipment that highly meets the needs. At the scene, Zoomlion's all-terrain crane ZAT18000H and other equipment overcame harsh working conditions and hoisted three blades and hubs weighing 116 tons and 195 meters in diameter to an altitude of 110 meters, completing the seamless docking within the precious window period. , worked with the builders to overcome challenges such as frozen soil construction, complex terrain and harsh climate, and completed all wind turbine installation work in 6 months.

With the complete success of wind turbine hoisting, the Basu Wind Power Project is expected to be fully operational by the end of October, which will meet the annual electricity needs of approximately 230,000 people and set a new benchmark for wind power construction in ultra-high altitude areas. Zoomlion's cranes will continue to challenge the limits of construction, help ultra-high-altitude wind turbines to become "newer", and add new green energy landmarks to the snowy plateau.
