SANY Heavy Energy's 15MW onshore wind turbine unit successfully hoisted

On October 8, the 15MW onshore wind turbine SI-270150 independently developed by Sany Heavy Energy was successfully hoisted in Tongyu, Jilin, breaking two world records for the largest single unit capacity and the largest impeller diameter of hoisted onshore units. From the first release of the onshore 15MW model at the 2023 Wind Energy Exhibition to the successful hoisting less than a year later, Sany Heavy Energy has been steadily advancing all the way and achieving the "acceleration" of China's wind power.

The 15MW onshore wind turbine is a heavyweight product that Sany Heavy Energy has devoted its efforts to build on the 12.X~16.X MW offshore and onshore platform. The design life is extended to 25-30 years. The impeller diameter is 270 meters, the blade length is 131 meters, and the maximum wind sweeping area is 57,256 square meters, which is equivalent to the size of 8 football fields. The larger wind sweeping area brings stronger onshore wind capture capabilities. The annual power generation of a single unit can meet the annual electricity consumption of 160,000 households.

Behind the birth of this unprecedented onshore "giant", Sany Heavy Energy has joined hands with the entire upstream and downstream industrial chain to jointly break through the technical boundaries and rely on pre-verification to ensure the reliability of the unit from the source.

Sany Heavy Energy's SI-270150 wind turbine generator set strictly meets various international standards and full life cycle reliability requirements. It uses lightweight design and intelligent control load reduction technology to reduce the overall load of the unit and the difficulty of long-distance transportation on land. The transmission chain adopts a double TRB integral main shaft support system to ensure the high bearing capacity and high stability of the main shaft system. Relying on the fully verified double-box transformer top-mounted technology, it reduces the amount of cables and land acquisition costs, creating a highly economical wind power product.

As the first complete machine enterprise to release the onshore 15MW wind turbine, Sany Heavy Energy relies on pre-multi-level tests to demonstrate the technical feasibility and product reliability to ensure the safety and reliability of the wind turbine throughout its life cycle. It also uses test data to feed back the optimization and iteration of the design, correct the digital simulation model, and shape the "reliable" gene from the source. In the future, the prototype of the 15MW wind turbine will start a one-year-long hanging operation test in the test wind farm to fully verify the reliability of components and the whole machine in actual working conditions.
