Zoomlion crawler crane escorts the smooth installation of the main reflector
October 10,2024
The main reflector of the antenna system hoisted this time weighs 125 tons and has a radius of 30 meters. It is a key link in the construction of the radio telescope. The main reflector is composed of a series of precise reflective panels, which can achieve efficient capture of cosmic radio signals through specific angles and positions.
The rising sun spreads over the vast land of Shigatse, and the rising mountains outline a beautiful picture of golden light. A touch of aurora green stands proudly in the light and dark. This is the QUY650 crawler crane of Sichuan Xinlu Hoisting, which is ready to complete the hoisting task of the main reflector of the antenna system of the 40-meter radio telescope in Shigatse.

The person in charge of Sichuan Xinlu Hoisting said: "We chose Zoomlion's QUY650 crawler crane for this hoisting. It was in super-lifting condition, with a main arm of 36 meters and a tower arm of 36 meters. The load rate was 72% and a 200T super-lifting counterweight was used. During the hoisting task that lasted more than 40 days, the crane was in good condition and had stable performance. We are very satisfied with the product and service."
The Xigaze 40-meter radio telescope is a fully solid, fully movable, high-precision, multi-purpose radio telescope. In order to adapt to the high-altitude environment, the project team has adopted a number of advanced technologies. It is expected that the telescope will complete basic construction by the end of this year and have VLBI observation capabilities by early 2025. This will further enhance my country's existing VLBI orbit determination capabilities and make greater contributions to subsequent missions including lunar and planetary exploration and manned lunar landing.
