Recently, at the Yellow River Bridge project site of Gaoshang Expressway, the 3,425-meter-long main arch of the Yellow River Bridge was like a beautiful rainbow, winding and hovering over the rolling Yellow River, and three XCMG super cranes XCA500 stood on the bridge, which was particularly eye-catching.

The Yellow River Bridge is currently the largest bottom-supported steel tube concrete tied arch bridge in China. As the main force of the arch ribs, the "skeleton" of the main arch ring of the arch bridge, how did the XCMG cranes erect the "rainbow"?

Mr. Li, the person in charge of the on-site hoisting, gave the answer:

"This hoisting plan is the first 500-ton crane bridge project in the country. Before hoisting, the hanging basket needs to be hoisted into place, then the arch ribs need to be hoisted to the bridge deck, the docking bolts need to be welded, and finally the arches need to be adjusted."

"The maximum arch of the bridge is 9 meters long, 5 meters high, 2.8 meters wide, and weighs 53 tons. The highest hoisting height is 65 meters. This requires very high stability and controllability of the crane, and the XCMG 500-ton crane performs very well. Because it is a cross-Yellow River operation, there are no obstructions around, and the wind resistance is very large. It is necessary to hoist through the aperture, transport the arch ribs to the bridge deck, and carry out aerial docking with the tacit cooperation of the workers."

It is reported that the arch ribs need to be hoisted and spliced more than 200 times before a complete arch ring can be formed on the bridge. These three XCMG super cranes XCA500 will be stationed in the project for one year.

After the project is completed, the Yellow River Bridge will become the largest bottom-supported steel tube concrete tied arch bridge in China, which is of great significance to improving regional traffic conditions and promoting high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin.
