The first urban low-altitude tunnel construction application in China

XCMG's complete set of road equipment for digital technology is involved in the construction of the eastern section of the new construction project of the North Cross-Island Corridor in Shanghai, starting from the Zhonghuan Beihong Road Interchange and ending at Zhoujiazui Road and Neijiang Road in the east, with a total length of about 19.1 kilometers; the overall layout is from southwest to northeast, passing through six administrative districts, namely Changning District, Putuo District, Huangpu District, Jing'an District, Hongkou District and Yangpu District. The main line of the eastern section of the North Cross-Island Corridor under construction is about 6.9 kilometers long and is an underground road.

The construction of the eastern section of the North Cross-Island Corridor is an application of the tunnel construction scene in the full-scenario solution of XCMG's complete set of road equipment for digital technology. The tunnel passes through the central urban area and faces various problems such as dense pipelines, narrow working surface, and traffic organization, each of which is a severe test of construction technology. However, it is under such conditions that XCMG's complete set of road equipment for digital technology has successfully completed the country's first application of unmanned paving technology in urban low-altitude long tunnels with its precise control, taking a big step forward in the development of intelligent construction of transportation engineering.

The entire line was paved by XCMG pavers RP1005 and RP805IV, with a paving width of 9-11.5m and an asphalt top layer thickness of 4cm. It was compacted by XD135TIV double-wheel rollers, showing strong construction capabilities in a narrow working space.

This tunnel pavement paving process is the first time in China that a new unmanned paving and compaction process has been applied in a long low-altitude urban tunnel. After paving, the pavement density reached 99.9%, the flatness was 20% higher than the traditional one, and the water seepage structure depth reached 100%.

XCMG's digital technology is a future-oriented intelligent and refined construction technology. Compared with traditional asphalt paving, it greatly reduces the dependence on drivers and has the advantages of reducing the impact of the environment on construction workers, reducing safety hazards, and improving construction accuracy. The application in the long underground tunnel in the city is also a valuable research and practice for expanding the application scenarios of unmanned paving and meeting the diverse needs of urban construction.

After the completion and opening to traffic of the main line of the eastern section of the North-South Corridor, the main line of the North-South Corridor project will be fully put into use, which will further improve the traffic environment along the line, alleviate the pressure on regional road traffic, and provide a new fast channel between the areas along the line and the Hongqiao hub, serving the medium and long-distance traffic in key areas in the north. It is of great significance for connecting the two major airports of Hongqiao and Pudong, and serving the development of the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone.
